Union Information Technology (IT) Minister Ravi shankar Prasad has said that presence of more than twice of the expected number of delegates in very first investors’ meet effort was a testimony of the fact that the aspirations and way of thoughts of the nation were changing. Addressing thousands of delegates and dignitaries from across the globe during valedictory session of two-day Momentum Jharkhand: Global Investor Summit-2017, Prasad patted Chief Minister Raghubar Das calling him one the finest batsman of team (Narendra) Modi here on Friday.
“Expecting little over 4,000 delegates and welcoming around 11,000 who made investment proposals of over Rs 3 lakh Crores a reality in very first investment attracting extravaganza is not something accidental. It portrays one thing very clear that the approach and way of thinking of nation and towards parts of nation is changing, and we will have to look into this very change with penetrating eyes,” said Prasad. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi always keeps reflecting his worries over eastern states lagging behind in growth story of the country. Pleasantly, it seems that CM Raghubar Das has offloaded his worries. I must say that Das has emerged as the finest batsman of team Modi,” said Prasad.
Giving another example of paradigm shift in the way developing countries were looking at India now, Prasad said, “During her visit to India last year, British PM Theresa May said that India has emerged as a major power centre of the world and Britain wants India to invest there.” He said that a country which ruled over India for more than two decades was looking at India in this way was an indicative of how India was being perceived during last two years, said Prasad.
Chief Guest of the Valedictory Session Governor Droupadi Murmu said that Jharkhand was a sleeping giant. “The creator has been extremely kind to us in more ways than one! This is perhaps the only State in the country which is hugely insulated against all natural calamities. The State has great gifts of sunshine throughout the year, mineral resources, forests and water. What has happened is that the potential of the state has remained only as a potential and we have not been able to release the animal spirit of the economy. As a result we are way backward from the mainstream and from the Millennium goals,” said Murmu.
“I think now the time has come for the idea of Jharkhand to materialize. Government has been vigorously trying to make Jharkhand a happening State. I sense an abundance of new energy and a sense of meaningfulness and purpose in the emerging leadership. When you come here to invest there will be hiccups. There will be challenges on the spot. I assure on behalf of my government that manufacturing, production of goods and services, sustainable development and creation of jobs for our people is our highest priority and nobody would be allowed to tamper with these goals,” assured Murmu to the potential investors.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the formation of Chief Minister Investment Promotion Board recently was directed towards removing hiccups in the way of investment on spot itself. “Now that investors have demonstrated commitment towards the State, I must assure them of all the support and I want to say that government is open for them 24X7,” said the CM.
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Nirmala Sitaraman said that Jharkhand kept her department surprising everyday as far as doing something new in areas of commerce and industries was concerned. “It is not a day’s affair to take such a long jump in terms of ease of doing business. I am sure Das led government will keep on surprising investors with unparalleled facilities for them,” said Sitaraman.
