Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Monday directed Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar and SPs to strengthen rule of law in the State.
Das was holding a review meeting with the top officials of the state government at Project Building. “Special instructions have been given to the SPs and Officer in-charge of all the police stations to closely monitor the situation by ensuring regular visits to their areas,” said DGP Rajiv Kumar. “We have also been asked to strengthen the law and order situation in the State,” he added.
“As far as Ranchi is concerned, we have been asked to get CCTV cameras installed in the state capital on priority basis and take positive steps in order to ensure impartial policing which can function without any pressure from outside,” the DGP said. Das also instructed the DGP to strengthen the law and order situation so that the people of Jharkhand may get a fearless environment in order to provide new directions to the development of Jharkhand.
A DIG level officer in the state police also asserted that they have got clear cut instructions from the top officials as well as the CM to take steps in this regard. “We are now full of energy and we all will try to make it happen in the State,” he said. Adequate steps have already been taken in this regard, he added.
“We all are all fully energized after the CM stressing on establishing rule of law and are completely oriented towards the new beginning made by the new government in the State,” said DIG Pravin Kumar. Another police official also called it a good beginning from a strong government, which is also in the interest of people of the State that such a strong and decisive instructions are coming from the top.
“It is definitely an enthusiastic announcement for us and has propagated positive message among the policemen as a strong government at the top makes it easier for us to put the rule of law on the ground in actual sense,” said a senior police officer requesting anonymity. No any officer, especially officer in charge of a police station and SP would ever like any incident to take place in his area, he added.
“But, definitely there are some pre-requirements which must be ensured by the government, if it really wants to establish rule of law in the state like providing better infrastructure and manpower which are being demanded since long by the police force,” the official said.
