To express gratitude towards the so called lifeline of Jharkhand Damodar river, Yugantar Bharti, is to organise various awareness programmes at 22 locations across the banks of it between May 28 and 29. A fresh initiative, taken in the year 2006 by ‘Yugantar Bharti’, where Damodar Mahotsava was organised observing it as a social, cultural and religious event. People living across the river, during Damodar Mahotsav, worship the river taking a pledge on the day to keep its water pure as it is.

“As Yugantar Bharti completes 10 year this year, Damodar Mahotsava will be observed in a different way where we will try to showcase our achievements during these years through an exhibition. We will present wide-ranging representation of the three important rivers flowing in the state – Damodar, Swarnrekha and Sone, along with the unexplored beauty of Saranda forests of Chaibasa,” said Honorary Director of School for Ecology and Environmental Managment Professor MK Jamuar.
