As the Damodar River continues to flow near the danger mark of 198.0 metres in Bokaro, the district authorities have warned all residents living close to the riverbanks to move to safer and higher places. Meanwhile district administration issued a warning, not to go into river as water level increased into the Tenughat dam as well as in river too. It might be expected of sudden release of water from the reservoir of Tenughat Dam on 16 June at any time, warning reveals.
Heavy downpour increased the water level into Tenughat Dam and Damoder River. “The Damoder was on the peak”, officials sources said. The officials, who are monitoring the rise in the river’s water level, said the threat of a low flood persists. But the possibility of a major flood crisis in the district was low, they added. The water level of the Damoder has fallen below the danger mark of 2.2 metres, an official said. “The water level of the Damoder now stands at 198 metres, which is just a little below the danger mark of 200.8,” said an official.
