Five news sheds are to come up on platform number 1 and 2/3 at the Daltonganj railway station under the Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway.

Work on these 5 sheds are in full swing on both the platforms.

These platforms 1,2 and 3 have right now insufficient sheds for the passengers.

Passengers or their relatives who come to see off, can be found holding open umbrella in the rains at the time of the arrival of the train.

Similarly sky open portion of the platforms used to pose risk of cold to passengers on account of fog, mist and dew drops in the winter nights waiting for the trains.

A railway official said the 5 new sheds each for platforms 1,2 and 3 are expected to be ready in the coming 4 to 6 weeks.

Platform number 1 is also to be upped by 12 inch now. The platform is adequate for placing of 22 coaches.

Apart from 5 new sheds and upscaling of the platform number 1 new water booths are to be set up on platform number 1, 2 and 3.

Railway sources said two water booths each are to come up on platform number 1,2 and 3.

The water booths will offer free drinking water supply.

About 6 or 7 months back the facility for automatic water vending machines set up on platform number 1, 2 and 3, for a price of 5 rupees for 2 litres of water had to be withdrawn following utter failure to its maintenance here.
