Cyclone Phailin affected the electricity service badly at Hazaribagh. The blackout remained in almost entire town for more than 48 hours. On October 14, when MP Yashwant Sinha intervened and talked with the officers of electricity department, then only the service got restored in some areas.
Before puja the department was claiming of uninterrupted service but due to Phailin wires broke down at many spots. The denizens were more annoyed on the behavior of officers and staffs of electricity department as everyone had switched off his mobile and no one was on the spot to pick up the receiver of landlines.
