A team of Jharkhand cyber cell on Wednesday afternoon busted a gang of cyber criminals and arrested two of the gangsters. The perpetrators were allegedly involved in ATM and online frauds across the region.

Those arrested have been identified as Mukesh Tiwari and Sujit Singh. Both are said to be the residents of different localities under Gaya district of Bihar. The police team has also recovered at least 7 Strip machines to be used to keep near the cash dispenser point on the ATM machine, 3 SIM cards, a Swift Dzire and Rs 2500 in cash from their possessions. The accused were however forwarded to Giridih central jail after proper verification and medical examination.

When contacted, the Giridih Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Rana, confirmed the incident and said that the district police were chalking out fresh strategies to nab such criminals. “We are not leaving any stone unturned in exposing these kinds of cases or arresting such criminals”, Rana added.

It all happened on the basis of information shared by the Mumbai ATM control center with the Giridih cyber cell. As per the information given by the Mumbai ATM control center, these criminals often visited a Bank of India’s ATM stall at Barwadih in Tundi under town police station.

“On Tuesday morning, the Mumbai ATM control center had informed the Giridih cyber officials regarding possible presence of the perpetrators in and around the ATM stall. Meanwhile, a team of police personnel, led by the Cyber PS in-charge, Adikant Mahto, along with one of his colleagues, Subal Kumar Dey, and other team members visited the suspected place and arrested the perpetrators”, a senior police officer told the Pioneer.

“These criminals mostly used to keep the strip machine, secretly, atop the cash dispenser point in order to record the activities of the ATM holders. Consequently, if the ATM holder fails to withdraw the required amounts and leave the place, the fraudsters enter into the ATM booth and use the entire information to withdraw the money of the account holders”, he said.
