The ‘Raj Path’ of Ranchi, from Birsa Munda Airport to Raj Bhavan, looked pristine on Monday evening after a hurried makeover to welcome President Pranab Mukherjee for the first time.
After his Dumka tour, Mukherjee reached Raj Bhavan, where a grand cultural evening was awaiting him. The 25-minute programme at Birsa Mandap included traditional dance forms like Domkach, Kalsa, Chhau, Pykka, Sarpaha and Jhoomar. All State dignitaries were invited.
It was followed by a sumptuous dinner, where traditional north Indian cuisines and Bengali sweets were served.
