Valhalla–2014, the flagship sports and cultural event of XlRI, Jamshedpur will kick off on Friday. The third edition of Valhalla is being organised on a grand scale this time. In order to spread the message of the event and to collect fund for social work, the students of XlRI also organised ‘Flash Mob’ at Bistupur. It is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time and surprise people.
“We organised the Flash Mob that witnessed an overwhelming response. The aim was to sell tickets and thus collect fund for social welfare. We are confident to make the event memorable,” said Tejesvi Dhankhar, a member of the organising committee.
She said that some of the best B-Schools in India including IIM-Calcutta, IIM-Ranchi, XIMB, IIM-Raipur, FMS, SIBM, and NMIMS are participating in the event.
The extravaganza flags off on July 25 with the Ability Unlimited Concert, a string of scintillating performances by differently abled artists on wheel chairs.
Valhalla will feature events across the spectrum of sports, cultural and outdoor events. The prominent sporting events include basketball, football, table tennis, volley ball, badminton, throw ball and chess.
“We collaborating with the Ability Unlimited Foundation (AUF), a Delhi based foundation which is doing truly commendable work in reaching out to differently-abled citizens of all ages right from providing them all amenities,
education, vocational training and meaningful opportunities to earn their livelihoods,” noted the member.
