Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma said that the administration could only be a medium for growth while the role of the people was important for bringing development in any area.
Addressing the gathering after a review meeting of developmental works conducted under Saryu Action Plan in latehar on Wednesday, Verma and DGP DK Pandey added that the saga of development could be written only with the joint efforts made by administration and the people themselves.
“Bad days have gone for the people of Saryu who are moving forward towards development along with the administration,” said the Chief Secretary. Special weekly vans are being arranged so that the produce of this area could be directly sent to the markets in latehar, she added.
The Chief Secretary further added that there should not be any kind of laxity or tardiness in making developmental works available at the doorsteps of the people living in Saryu area. Officials must ensure that the benefits of development reach each of the doorsteps, she said.
“It is the State Government’s priority not to leave any child illiterate in this state and a profile must be prepared of the dropout children in all 38 villages coming under Saryu area so that they could be brought back to schools,” said the Chief Secretary. Such children will be admitted to Kasturba Gandhi or other residential schools with the help of BRP, CRP and Panchayat Secretariat and other volunteers, she added.
Stressing on safe delivery of pregnant women and regular vaccination of infants, the Chief Secretary also directed the Civil Surgeon to get door to door survey done of all 5000 households in Saryu and prepare a list so that not a single woman remains deprived of health facilities.
While reviewing MGNREGA, the Chief Secretary said that action must be taken on zero muster roll at any cost and women from each of the households should be connected with Sakhi Mandals so that they could become independent after getting attached with self employment. “Construction of Dovas must be done as per the target for water harvesting,” she said.
Referring to the local markets, the Chief Secretary said that it should be handed over completely to Sakhi Mandals and also reiterated the mantra of mission mode.
While reviewing department of Agriculture, the Chief Secretary directed officials to prepare land profile of the area so that something could be produced in each of those areas as per the quality of the soil.
DGP DK Pandey said that special training programme will soon be arranged for the literate girls and boys of this area so that they could also get appointed as police constables. “33 per cent reservation will be ensured in police recruitments in 2017 itself,” said Pandey.
