Chief Secretary in-charge Sajal Chakraverty on Thursday instructed strict monitoring of health services in Ranchi and adjoining areas and warned doctors for abstaining from duty. Chakarverty’s warning came after he made surprise visit to medical centres situated in the outskirts of the capital.

The CS visited medical centres in Namkum and Kanke that brought him face-to-face with the pathetic conditions and inconvenience to patients coming for treatment especially in night. The acting CS has also decided to take action against doctors not present during the duty hours.“Mamta Vahan is there but there is no driver. Even the doctor was not present at the hospital. I am going to take action against such doctors,” pointed out Chakraverty.

Interestingly, the officiating CS also hinted at shuffling doctors and making them serve in rural areas. Besides, he also instructed civil surgeon to step up monitoring of doctor’s attendance and divide Ranchi in three zones to efficiently monitor delivery of healthcare services to people.Incidentally, Chakraverty also visited Dhanbad to assess preparations being made to welcome President of India Pranab Mukherjee for convocation at Indian School of Mines.“President will stay roughly for one and half hour. The programme will be of one hour,” added Chakraverty.
