The task force constituted by DC Ravishankar Shukla to check the activity of illegal mining of stone miners from the forest areas and its illegal crushing continued its drive on Tuesday too. The team headed by SDO Aditya Ranjan today visited the Merawal area of Sindoor village of sadar block. Here there were many illegal stone crushers which were running without any fear till today morning. The team members first ordered the owners to produce papers but when they failed the task force demolished eight stone crushers and sealed six because the papers were not complete.
With the arrival task force with huge police force the crusher owners started ganging up and as the process of demolition started they along with some anti social elements started throwing stones on the team members.
Police first tried to stop them but when stone pelting continued it used mild force to disperse the gathering. later the task force arrested some miscreants also.
SDO Aditya Ranjan said that when he demanded papers of stored boulders and license for running stone crusher units, out of 14 only 6 came back with incomplete documents. We demolished 8 crusher units because no paper was produced by their owners and gave time to rest 6 to produce full papers within 24 hours.
The officer incharge of Korrah TOP RS Mishra said that as per order of our officials he was with the team with jawans. “When stone pelting started we tried to stop them but they didn’t stop and in the mean time some jawans got injured in this incident so we used mild force to disperse the miscreants. The vehicle of district mining officer also got damaged due to this stone pelting,” he said.
later the team seized some bikes from the sites which were left at the spot by the miscreants. Police has also seized some other items needed for running a crusher unit. FIR has been lodged against the owners of the crusher units and police has started search operation involved in today’s incidence.
The members of the task force which visited Merawal today included CO Sadar Manish Kumar, Executive Magistrate Kumud Kumar Jha, District Mining officer, Assistant Mining officer, factory inspector, official of pollution control board and police officer and jawans of Korrah TOP.
