The plan of left ultras to trap the CRPF patrolling team was foiled on Saturday morning in Vishnugarh Forest. The CPI Maoists had planted cane bombs on the expected route of the CRPF personnel but when the jawans changed their route the ultras opened fire. The CRPF team retaliated quickly and at 4:30 am the forest area was echoing with the noise of firing.
The encounter between CRPF team and Maoists went on for about an hour and at least 700 rounds were fired by both the sides. Though no casualty has been reported so far from any side, the CRPF team has claimed that some ultras might have got bullet injuries as blood spots in the forest area prove that.
According to source, the CRPF team, camping at Vishnugarh, got information that Maoists are going to move from the forest area near Konar Dam.
The team reached Konar Dam and then instead of taking the short route, took the long route for the forest. After the encounter when the left ultras fled the spot, the CRPF team started a search operation of the area and found three cane bombs weighing three kgs planted in the short route. Urea was used as a component of explosive in these cane bombs. About 100 metre wire, some gelatin and detonators were also recovered from the area during search operation.
