A jawan of CRPF, 60th battalion, allegedly committed suicide at the unit’s camp in Chaibasa at West Singhbhum district on Saturday.
According to the sources, jawan Imtiaz Ali, shot himself on his neck from his service revolver in his room.
He was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
“The jawan might have sustained bullet accidently while cleaning his fire arm. We cannot confirm whether it was an accident or suicide,” said an official of battalion.
When contacted NK Singh, SP West Singhbhum said that pirma facie it appears a suicide incident though it needs to be investigated thoroughly before reaching any conclusion.
