CRPF distributes blankets among poor

The 134 battalion of the CRPF in Daltonganj distributed a set of 40 blankets among the poor including a dozen freed bonded labourers. Commandant of the 134 battalion of  the CRPF Sanjay K linda and his second in command Sudhanshu Shekhar organised a function for the poor and the freed bonded labourers.

Shanti Kindo, the chairperson of the Rajya Bal Shramik Ayog Ranchi was the guest of honour on this occasion. The programme was held under the aegis of Nayee Kiran said Shanti Kindo. It was Shanti Kindo who told the media persons there that freed bonded labourers who got CRPF's blanket came from Semra village under Chainpur block. A noted professor of English now retired N N Sharan was present too in this function.

Some of the freed bonded labourers namely Anresh Bhuiyan, Prabhoo Bhuiyan and Santosh Bhuiyan were quite elated to have this good quality blanket coming to them in this chill winter here. These freed bonded labourers could not remember when they were freed of the human bondage but guessed it could be the year 1975 or 1976.

Shanti Kindo said their freedom was ensured when here in Daltonganj had come the great woman writer Maha Shweta Devi. Palamu's Chainpur block had the infamy of too many bonded labourers in the eighties. The other block in Palamu which matched its infamy then was Manatu block where too bonded labourers were prevalent.

Some poor of the town too became the beneficiary of the CRPF's blanket. The Commandant S K linda was too moved to see the shabby clothes of the poor who got the blanket as he might have guessed as to how these poor with so little clothes on their body used to grapple with cold wsinter night in Palamu where mercury comes down o as low as 2 or 3 degree Celsius.

The CRPF in Palamu carries out its CAP ( civic action programme)in a quite planned way and first identifies the poor sector. Under CAP the CRPF doles out articles of daily use and blankets in winter cannot be any substituted said Somaro Bhuiyan.
