In a shocking incident, three members of a builder’s family were attacked by a criminals’ gang at Muckdampur locality of Parsudih.

The builder, Tapan Barua (45), his wife Sujata (40) and son Suman are now out of danger but the gang members who attacked them on Saturday are still untraceable.

“We are in a state of shock and don’t know who they were. More than 24 hours have passed since the criminals attacked us, the police have not been able to trace the gang nor found out the motive behind such attack,” said Suman Barua, the builder’s only son.

“let me clear you that my father has no enmity with anyone. He is simple person. But, sudden attack on their house has put them in dilemma.  Moreover, the criminals who had put mask on their face seemed to have knowledge about our house as one of them had picked up key of the back-door which was kept on the washing machine while they fled the scene,” said the 22-year-old Suman who is also involved in his father’s business.

The criminals, three of them armed had entered into Barua’s house when all three members of the family were sleeping. After they entered through a under-construction portion of the house, the criminals had first awakened Suman by kicking in his face and when he saw the masked men inside the house he fought with them, causing a commotion. The four masked men were searching for Barua.

In the noise, both Barua and his wife woke up and came to the room where the criminals were in. Having seen the son in danger, Barua tried to rescue him, but fell victim to criminals who hit his and his wife’s head with pistol’s butts.

The builder and his wife have been admitted at the Tata Main Hospital where as the son has evaded to get admitted at the hospital despite getting severe head injuries.

Superintendent of police (city) Prashant Anand said that the intention behind such attack was not clear.

“It is too early to comment. We are investigating the incident. From the statement of the builder and his son, it is clear that the criminals had not attacked them with an intention of loot nor they had the intention of killing anyone.  Otherwise they could have shot any of the three members during the 10 minutes they spent at the house,” said Anand.
