The newly appointed Chief Minister’s claim of improving the law and order situation in the State seems to have made no impact over the criminals as the crime graph of the capital city is on the rise in the last fortnight. Several cases of theft, murder and rape have been recorded during the last fortnight after Raghubar Das assumed the charge of his office.
Recent incident under Ratu police station, where a girl saved herself from the ill intentions of two youths by jumping out of a speeding autorickshaw on which she was being taken to some unknown place, is really alarming for the State police as criminals remain undeterred with the consequences of their activities.Similarly, cases of theft also took place on Wednesday in three different sanitary shops in Ranchi by the burglars taking away sanitary ware worth of several lakhs.
Police officials, asserting the fact that the incidents which took place in the last fortnight were definitely distressing, claimed at the same time that action has been taken against those who have been found guilty for theincidents.“Besides, solving the cases by making arrests of the accused persons in Rahe murder or Mandar loot case, we have also taken tough action against some of the police officials who were found neglecting duties,” said Ranchi SSP Prabhat Kumar. “Similarly, we have also arrested the persons involved in ZEE media theft case, recovering everything what were taken away by the thieves,” added Kumar.
The SSP further added that efforts were also being made to improve the problem of traffic congestion on the streets of Ranchi. “We are making all our efforts to follow the directions given by the State Government and are looking forward the get it improved soon within a month or so,” the SSP added.Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries Secretary General Pawan Kumar Sharma is also of the view that the police need to be more alert and sensitive to curb on the incidents of crime in the city.
“I strongly feel that the police as well as the people need to be more alert to avoid such incidents of crime taking place in our society,” said Sharma. He however, also praised the efforts made by Ranchi Police which reached the spot within minutes and took desired action in order to catch hold of the burglars who had barged into the sanitary ware shops.
Some of the senior police officials in the state police, on the other hand, believe that the crime and criminals will always remain in a developing society like ours which could only be tamed, but cannot be removed completely. “Being sensitive towards the people, we also have to take their basic rights into consideration so that it does not get violated during the process of taking action against someone,” said a senior police official requesting anonymity.
The official, however, also claimed that the effect of the efforts being made by the State police on the directions of the new State Government will be visible within three months as judging their efforts within a fortnight would not be judicious.
