As the schools reopen in State, few students have tested Covid-19 positive, increasing the risk of infection. Three students from Marwari High School in the Shahid Chowk area were found positive on Friday. The school as part of Covid protocol carried out sanitisation of school premises.
Poritosh Choudhary, school coordinator and school discipline in-charge said, “Last week based on district administration directive, a rapid antigen test was carried out of students in which three students were found to be corona positive. As per Covid protocols the three students were quarantined and the entire school was sanitized.”
Choudhary said that the three students who were tested positive are students from Class IX and were asymptomatic. Meanwhile, the school administration after three students testing positive have made elaborate arrangements. As per fresh directive, students will be called on odd even basis, which means that students having odd roll number ( in sequence of 1, 3, 5, 7) will be called on one day, while on next day students having even roll number (in sequence of 2, 4, 6, 8) will be called on next day.
The school coordinator also said that we have made elaborate arrangements at school premises so that all Covid protocols are followed. The school as per Covid protocols has made wearing of masks and use of sanitizers mandatory at school.
The students are not allowed to bring lunch boxes, morning prayers and sports activities are prohibited during school hours.
The government schools in the State reopened on August 6, while private schools started offline education from August 9. As per education department directive, the classes are from 8 am to 12 noon.
Three students testing positive from Marwari school came at the time when the state government was planning to unlock other sectors.
Not only were schools in Jharkhand but in other states where schools reopened last month cases of corona were found among students. In Punjab, 27 school children have been found Covid-19 positive. Out of a total of 27, 21 students alone were found in two Ludhiana schools which have been closed as a precautionary measure.
Majority of schools started running offline classes starting August 9, but a rough survey in the city suggested that parents are not comfortable with offline classes and are not allowing their wards to go to schools.
