In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old youth, a patient of the COVID-19 ward in the District Headquarters Hospital here allegedly committed suicide on the hospital premises on Sunday night. The police identified the deceased hailed from Karkata village under Kandi police limit of the district.
Sources said that he ended his life by hanging with his towel in the verandah of the hospital late night on Sunday. The incident sent shock waves among patients and staff of the COVID-19 ward in the hospital.
When contacted, police station in-charge Ram Awatar Ram of town PS said that that depression might have prompted the poor youth to resort to the extreme step. Further investigation is underway, he said.
