The count of Covid-19 cases in Jharkhand neared 2500 on Tuesday after at least 60 fresh cases of Covid infection surfaced in State, health officials said. According to government data, it took about 10 days for the cases to reach 2500 from 2000.
As per a bulletin released by the National Health Mission (NHM), the number of Covid recoveries in Jharkhand on Tuesday was nearly half as much as the fresh cases. As many as 35 patients recovered from the infection on Tuesday and were subsequently discharged from hospital, the bulletin stated.
The number of fresh cases surfacing in a day crossed the 50-mark for the first time in a week on Tuesday, health officials said. At least 61 fresh cases of Covid-19 infection were reported on June 24 in State, and since then the number of fresh cases surfacing every day has been below 50, officials added.
According to NHM, the Covid mortality rate in Jharkhand is 0.51 per cent, against the national average of 3.08 per cent. The recovery rate in State is also better than the national average, the NHM bulletin said. The recovery rate in Jharkhand is 73.08 per cent, against the national recovery rate of 58.13 per cent. Jharkhand's Covid recovery rate, officials said, was one of the best in country. According to Govt data, more than non-migrants have tested positive for Covid-19 in Jharkhand since the entry of the virus in the state on March 31. The cases of Covid transmission among locals reported in June alone accounts for more than 50 per cent of the total count of locals who have tested positive so far in Jharkhand.
Migrants, however, account for more than 75 per cent of the total cases in State. Out of the 2490-odd Covid cases, 1974 are migrants, the NHM bulletin highlighted.
The virus has claimed 15 lives in the State and most of them, officials said, had comorbid conditions. However, no Covid deaths were reported in State on Tuesday.
The Govt has collected samples of 1.44 lakh suspects so far and tested nearly all of them, NHM officials said. Around 3 lakh people have been put in home quarantine in State and over 30,000 are in institutional quarantine, say Government figures.
