The Court of District and Sessions Judge, Deoghar, on Tuesday, rejected the bail petition of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM-P) lawmaker Pradeep Yadav in connection with the molestation of woman party leader.
The court of District and Session Judge, Mohammed Nasiruddin, after hearing the arguments of defence and prosecution lawyers, rejected the bail petition. Now, Yadav the JVM (P) MLA from Poreyahat has to knock the door of High Court for getting relief in the case.
JVM spokesperson, Rinki Jha, in the month of April had lodged a complaint against Yadav alleging that the then party general secretary tried to molest her in a hotel at Deoghar, where she had gone to attend a party rally. Jha, in her complaint at Mahila Police station, had lodged the case stating that on April 20, she had gone to attend a rally at Deoghar.
On the same day, Yadav called her asking her to meet him at Shivshakti hotel for discussing some election issue.
According to the complainant, Yadav had called her at room number 202 and at around 9.15 PM the MLA entered the room and tried to molest her.
The victim in her complaint lodged at Mahila police station stated that though she was successful to escape from Yadav’s clutches, but Rs 2 lakh which she had kept in her purse was taken away by the legislator.
The victim claimed that she had even informed JVM (P) chief Babulal Marandi in this connection but he too failed to provide any help to her.
On April 21, she informed the local police about the incident, but no action was taken. Later, on April 24, Jha lodged a complaint at Mahila police station.
Based on Jha’s complaint, the Cyber police had called Yadav for interrogation on June 5, but the lawmaker failed to turn up claiming that he needed some time. On June 13, Yadav recorded his statement at cyber police station.
Based on the statements of Yadav and Jha, the court heard the arguments of both defence and prosecution lawyers.
After hearing the arguments, the court reserved the order on June 17.
The victim woman had also made an allegation that some ruling party leaders are supporting Yadav in destroying the evidences in the case.
However, Yadav had stated that it was a ploy of some ruling party leaders as the matter came up before the Lok Sabha election.
