The district police are yet to crack the murder mystery of senior Tata Motors’ executive Brajesh Sahay who was gunned down recently.

TMl Drivelines (a subsidiary of Tata Motors) executive Brajesh Sahay (40) was shot dead by two armed unknown assailants in front of his bungalow on Dalma Road at Nildih under Telco police station area on February 23. Though Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been involved in the investigation into the sensational murder, neither the police nor the CID has made any breakthrough in the case. The team led by city SP Karthik S along with two DSPs — DSP city KN Choudhary and DSP law and order BN Singh and officer-in-charge of three police stations — Telco, Parsudih and Golmuri are probing.

Senior superintendent of police, Amol V Homkar, though claimed to have made enough progress in the case with vital clues but refused to divulged details. “let me assure you that we have made steadfast progress in the Sahay murder case, but we are not able to disclose the progress as it will hamper the investigation,” said Homkar. The senior SP said that that the team has scanned the laptop of the murder victim and also took statement of suspects who were facing a threat of retirement scheme.

The police are probing into the animosity angle between the murder of Tata Motors’ AGM Brajesh Sahay and ancillary units who supply spare parts for commercial vehicle. Since last four-five months, the company had adopted strict measures on scrutiny of credentials of supply vendors and only if they had local factories they were given supply orders.

“Brajesh Sahay was one of the key executives implementing this directive of the company. He might have earned wrath of influential suppliers. The manner in which the murder has been committed gives enough indication of involvement of professional criminals hired for this purpose,” said a senior police official preferring anonymity. Meanwhile, the Tata Motors company management have evolved a new security measure to turn Nildih area a safer. The company security guards in collaboration of the local police have started conducting random checking of the vehicles, including cars that pass through Nildih area.
