Cops to scrutinise marriage video to analyse extortion link

Sister’s marriage of a gangster of Palamu in UP’s Faizabad is under the scanner of Palamu police.

According to SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha a sister of a gangster Bandhu Shukla of Palamu’s Kamal Kedia village in lesliganj police station of Palamu was married to one Abhishek Mishra son of Ramtirth Mishra of Wajeetpur in Faizabad in UP on February 24 and police now want to scan the video clippings of this ceremony to find out if this ceremony was an austere one or extravagant.

In the event of its lavishness and extravaganza Palamu police would not hesitate to believe the gangster Bandhu Shukla had spent his money coming to him from extortion here in Palamu on his sister’s marriage in Faizabad.

The SP further said as a warrant of seizure of property was executed against Shukla’s house at Kamal Kedia village in Palamu just a couple of days back under order of the court which had issued seizure warrant the police found wedding card there in the house of Shukla which alerted the Palamu police that this gangster chose Faizabad to be the place of marriage of his sister ostensibly for reasons to have ceremony of his choice and also to be away from the eyes of the police in Palamu. It must be written here that police are not going to take any chance.

He said Mishra of Faizabad would be served a notice under section 91 of CrPC to make available videos of this Feb 24 marriage of the sister of this gangster there.

He said in case Mishra shows reluctance or tamper with the videos then police will invoke other sections of the law.

Sources said there is enough scope to reduce or eliminate portions of videos of wedding ceremony if showing extravaganza or lavishness to prove that the ceremony was an austere one and no easy money was spent here.

Sources said Palamu police are not all sure to pin down gangster on charges of spending extorted money.
