Cops keep watch on young riders

As noticeable Ranchi traffic police from last month have launched a special drive to keep a strict check on two wheeler drivers to ensure hey do not break the traffic rules.

Despite of such an action the teenagers are found to follow their own rules on the road. If caught they just run away or start misbehaving with the police constables. This problem is much more inclined towards a social problem rather than an administrative problem. The parents are turning helpless in front of their kids demand. The teenaged kids are becoming more stubborn day by day and are forcing their parents to fulfill their demands.

“My son studies in Surendranath Centenary School and there is no bus facility for the students of class XI and class XII. lot of time is wasted while travelling in auto as he has to change the auto thrice to reach school. So due to the lack of such transportation facilities I am compelled to allow my son to travel in Scooty because it’s more convenient. But I am very strict towards my ward that he wears helmet while riding Scooty,” said a parent, Prathna Singh.

“My son is in class XI. He said he will stop going school and coaching if I will not buy him a Bike. He was constantly forcing me; he even stopped eating for few days. I turned helpless and under pressure I bought a Scooty for him because I think Scooty is safer than bikes. There was no other option in front of me other than fulfilling his demand,” said another parent, Raju Kumar.

As a soft corner for their offspring parents usually allow their wards to ride bikes but the children turns selfish by ignoring their parent’s sentiments. For them speed is the new trend as the life style is changing. “My school is just 2 kms away from my house but then also I prefer riding because Scooty and speed is much more fun than walking. This is the age to have fun and be adventurous. I don’t like wearing helmets that is not in fashion and I park my Scooty outside the school campus,” said a student of class XI, Raunak Kalra.

Though many school administrations have turned very strict towards the students getting bikes to the school premises but then also they are failing to stop the students from getting bikes. “From last year there is a strict restriction on the students to bring bike inside the school campus. I personally meet the parents and the guardians of the students in the PTI meeting and request them not to allow their wards to ride bikes. We have 11 buses for different routes which the students are using for their transportation. Inspite of this if the students bring bikes and park it outside somewhere near the school campus then we are not aware about such an activity,” said the Principal of lala lajpat Rai School PK Thakur.
