Cool weather forecasts pleasant summer

Ranchi, known as the summer capital of the eastern region, is all set to get its tag again. Passing though a ‘sweet November’ like temperature currently, the Weathermen predict a ‘not so hot’ summers this time around for the capital city.

“The local effect will not result to a major heatstroke during the summer season this year. Chances are there that for only one or two days, the State capital would witness scorching heat,” said Dr Upasani of Birsa Agricultural University.

On Sunday the maximum recorded temperature was 28 degrees and minimum was 18 degrees. The minimum temperature till Tuesday is expected to remain 18 degrees with brief spells of shower in between.

For last few days this mercury dip is because of sufficient rainfall last year. Explaining this reason Environmentalist Dr Nitish Priyadarshi said, “Ponds and dams are still filled with water because of last year rainfall. This March the temperature went up to 38-40 degrees leading to unusual heat and excess evaporation leading to temperature difference.”

“This turmoil will continue for more four days unless the sky level low temperature and ground level high temperature are not at par. This was a regular phenomenon 35 to 40 years back at Ranchi,” added Dr Nitish.
