Under its plans to uplift the condition of women in the State, AJSU Central Committee is organising a grand convergence in the name of ‘Mahila Panchayat’, on Sunday at Morhabadi grounds. The members of Akhil Jharkhand Mahila Sangh, the women wing of the party, from all the 24 districts of Jharkhand will be joining in the chorus to demand security, education and honour for themselves.
“In this Panchayat, we will ponder mostly on measures to entrust the women of Jharkhand with a better political standing. In the Panchayat elections organised in the State after 29 long years, we gave 50 per cent reservation to our female candidates. This alone should make our intentions clear that we wish to empower and uplift women more in the field of politics,” stated the AJSU Central Spokesperson Devsharan Bhagat.
He further added, “We will also discuss how many female candidates will be nominated in the upcoming Assembly polls.” This convention is also first of its kind; no gathering with this grandeur was ever convened to advocate women empowerment in the State. With this Mahila Panchayat, AJSU has become the first party to take up the cause at such colossal scale.
Bhagat informed, “lakhs of women from across the State are coming to attend this meeting. Women of Jharkhand are turning up in such huge numbers is an accomplishment in itself.”
The big names of AJSU are going to attend the Mahila Panchayat. Party president Sudesh Mahto will be the centre figure for the ceremony. Along with him, all AJSU MlAs, members of Central Committee of the party and subsidiary organisations will adorn the ceremony.
The troupe of Nandlal Nayak will present cultural performances during the programme. Every arrangement has been made to ensure that those who will attend the Panchayat do not have to face any problems during the ceremony. Medical staff and 1,000 volunteers of Ranchi University AJSU Chhatra Sangh have been deputed to deal with any untoward incident on the ocassion.
“If the women of the State are well aware of their rights and know that there is someone in power who can understand their grievances then they can also go to the authority without any hesitation,” Bhagat expressed.
