The 40-year-old petty contractor Congress Biruli who was shot at and seriously injured by a gang of three youths at Parsudih on Thursday evening died at the Tata Main Hospital around midnight.

The murder victim, father of five children, sustained bullet injuries. According to sources he refused to pay the assailants Rs 500 as subscription to a village fair at Parsudih three months ago and this led to the sad end. The police have arrested two of the accused, Govinda and Chinmay present at the time of the gun-shot attack, but the main accused, Sitaram Sharma who had shot at Biruli is still absconding. DSP (law and order) BN Singh said that the investigation was on, however, as per their initial probe Biruli’s murder was the result of an old enmity between the victims and Sitaram Sharma and others over refusal to pay subscription for a village fair organised by the accused at Kochakoli in Parsudih.

“On Thursday evening, while Biruli was returning home by riding his bike, the three accused intercepted him at Haludbani in Parsudih and that led to an altercation. As all the three were drunk, Sitaram lost his cool and fished out a pistol and fired a shot at Biruli from close range," said Singh.
