Increasing scale of the market price has made the people in Ranchi more paranoid about managing their household.
However, it is a huge respite that the rate of vegetables in market is not going high, but is constant for last two months. In fact, the rates in few vegetables have come down this summer with approximately Rs 5. It is astonishing and reliving that the scorching heat of summer and scarcity of water seems incapable of increasing the vegetable price.
“There is drop in the price of few vegetables like bottle Gourd, Cucumber and Jack fruit, but the rates of other vegetables are constant with last month,” Said a vendor, Raja.
Most of the vendors near Ratu road, Morhabadi, Bahu bazaar and Dhurwa get their vegetables from suburban areas like Pithoria, Nagri , Bero at wholesale price of minimum Rs 5/kg less than their market value. These vendors include their transportation charge and profit, which vary from Rupees two to five per kg depending on market locality. Some retailers and markets like lalpur bazaar and other small vegetable markets within the town have price rate more than the others have, who usually purchase their vegetables from local vegetable dealers like Daily Market.
However, the rate of vegetables seems fixed this month, but for the coming days, it is unpredictable. “Production of vegetable seems heavy this month and rate in some vegetables have come down, but with this increasing temperature, we can hardly predict how long the rates will be constant.
It is quiet probable that in coming days there can be increase in price with Rs 4-5,” said a vegetable dealer at Daily market. Despite this constant running rate of vegetables in market and decrease in cost rate of few vegetables, people are unsatisfied and expect more downfalls in the price graph of vegetables in the market.
“The cost of gold seems coming down but for the vegetables it seems to be increasing day by day,” a housewife shashi said.
