The NTPC had organised a programme on Thursday to bring awareness of environment among the people.
On this occasion, GM of NTPC Coal Project Ravindra Singh Rathi presented 66 sewing machines to the women who had completed the course sewing and stitching being run by NTPC in the area.
He addressed the gathering at Barkagaon on World Environment Day.
He said “Increasing pollution in every elements of the environment is a matter of concern all over the world. We need fresh air to breath, fresh and pure water to drink, greenery around the society which makes us fresh and keeps us calm but today air is polluted, water is polluted, the green cover of the earth is shrinking and the result is origin of new diseases, increasing incidents of disasters”.
He added “So it is the duty of every common man to conserve the nature otherwise the future generation will not forgive us for our today evils which is making the life harder and harder day by day”.
