Congress to stage protest on land issue, domicile policy today

The Congress would organise a sit-in at Birsa Chowk on Monday opposing the policies of the Centre relating to land acquisition, budgetary provisions, inflation besides pushing the State Government on domicile policy and horse trading issues. Informing about the programme about a day when Assembly is set to start its business in real terms, party leader Alok Dubey said that all the Congress MlAs and office bearers would be present on the occasion.

“The BJP Governments both at the Centre and the State have resorted to anti-people policies. They are amending the land acquisition act which is against the interests of the farmers. On the other hand, the State Government has failed in bringing a domicile policy which is proving detrimental for the original residents of the State,” said Dubey. The party is also opposed to the hike made in the Service Tax through the Union Budget which would prove inflationary.

“They came to power critising us on inflation issue but doing similar things even when oil prices are seeing downward trend. The party would also highlight the unethical practice adopted by the Government in purchasing MlAs,” added Dubey. The dharna would continue till 2 pm and a delegation of the party would submit a memorandum to Chief Minister Raghubar Das outlining the issues. Besides the six MlAs of the party, Pradesh Congress Committee president Sukhdeo Bhagat and senior leaders would also take part in the protest.
