Palamu district Congress committee held a one day dharna on Saturday today near the now less used old chamber of civil surgeon Palamu under the leadership of the district president Jesh Ranjan Pathak alias Bittu Pathak.
Former MP Palamu Kameshwar Baitha along with Shyam Narain singh, Pappu Azhar, Tarkeshwar Paswan and others attended the dharna.
The Congress team presented a 13 point charter of demands for a better and effective management of the more than century old sadar hospital Daltonganj and other health centres located in the district.Bittu Pathak said there is a dialysis care unit here in this hospital here on a PPP mode but it is learnt that nephrologists of this care unit remains away from here and the whole unit of this dialysis is taken care of by two technicians who leave much to be desired.
Pathak said patients are made to wait for their pathological test reports even in cases where such test reports are to be made available in a few hours time.
He agreed that there are some tests which take days for reporting where delay is inevitable but for tests like malaria, typhoid etc pathological reports are handed down to patients too late which cause extreme inconvenience to patients coming over here from a long distance like Manatu, Harihurganj etc.
Pathak said a 5 member team of Congressmen led by him had met Dr Kumar Tara Chand an IAS on probation here and senior in charge of this sadar hospital on November 3 with a request to improve the lot of this government hospital but there came no tangible results of this meet with him in the past 7 days and hence this dharna was held today he added.
Pathak said ICU here is no intensive care unit but it is intensive crowd unit as any time here in the ICU which is on the ground floor here there can be found any number of attendants of patients right inside the ICU which defeats all purposes of its being an ICU for critical care patients.
He wanted lady doctor on duty at night here for woman patients here since hospital authorities claim lady doctor remains available at night on call.
Pathak has demanded meals for patients be improved.
