Two days after one Rekha Singh came in public and leveled charges of cheating against Congress Member of legislative Assembly (MlA) KN Tripathi, the Daltonganj legislator on Friday took refuse of the Crime Investigation Department.
Tripathi in his application to the CID has explained his points of view over the grave charges while denying taking any money in lieu of the reported mediation.
The CID has initiated the probe into entire controversy.
In his allegation Rekha Singh, a resident of Patna had charged the MlA for taking `60 lakh for settling a divorce case of her son.
She said that Tripathi later backtracked from his commitment of compromise the case and also denied taking the said money.
A case for demanding dowry was filled against Rekha and his son Shekhar Singh in which the Jharkhand High Court had issued warrants against the family.
“The lady approached me when the appeal against the HC order was pending in the Supreme Court. She wanted to settle the case. I and Rajendra Singh (Congress legislative body leader in Jharkhand) helped the family and a deal was struck. As per the agreement Rekha Singh was to give `25 lakh for fix deposit and `15lakh for a flat at Bokaro to Nidhi Singh (Rehka’s daughter-in-law). In the meanwhile the SC granted bail to Shekhar. The lady then recorded our conversations and chalked out a plan to blackmail me,” Tripathi told The Pioneer.
Nidhi Singh has come to the media with voice recordings of conversations involving the MlA, a sadhvi named Vibhanand Giri talking about the deal and the exchange of money.
She has leveled blatant charge of cheating against Tripathi who, she said, refused to return `60 lakh that he had taken to settle the family dispute.
The MlA also added that one Nepal Singh had in-fact taken `15 lakh from Rekha Singh that was to be given to Nidhi for purchasing the flat.
Tripathi also see a political conspiracy behind the entire dispute aimed to malign his image and to dent on his poll prospects. “Couple of big politicians are playing sinister game to harm my political career. They should read the High Court judgment that clearly depicts the character of Rekha Singh,” he said.
On the other hand, the State Congress has demanded a through probe into the entire controversy.
“Reports coming out indicate about some issue related to money transaction involving the MlA. The party thinks that the matter should be investigated properly. The Congress fully backs the legislator,” said JPCC spokesperson Sailesh Sinha.
