A high-level delegation of the Congress on Wednesday met Governor Draupadi Murmu at Raj Bhawan and handed over certain proposals in order to amend the domicile policy defined by the State Government recently.
The memorandum while criticising the policy that has come into existence picks holes in defining moolvasi, permanent residents and others of the State. The party while highlighting the loopholes said that the policy does not care about the purpose and sentiments with which the State got separated in 2000.
“It is against the interest of the tribals and sadans of the State. The policy is also silent on the tribals and moolvasis residing in non-scheduled areas. It has nothing to say about the rights of the original inhabitants over minor minerals and other natural resources in the State,” said PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat who was flanked by senior leaders Subodh Kant Sahay, KN Tripathi, Geetashree Oraon and several others.
The party also questioned the intention of the Government for announcing TET exam pattern a day before the declaration which would be taken based on the earlier guidelines and for continuing with the appointments. “The policy is complete eyewash. It talks about jobs reserved for locals at district level but does not define who would be locals over there.
We also feel that issue of such an importance should have been brought and debated in the Assembly before being implemented,” added Bhagat.
The party while putting forth its demand has requested the Governor that only those having their names mentioned in the last survey settlement be treated as locals and given reservation in the Government jobs. It also called for wider consultation among stakeholders and put the rolled out policy on hold till then.
