Congress party has done all preparations ahead of its massive protest and march to the Assembly on Wednesday. Party workers and leaders from across the State have been brought in good numbers to take part in the programme which would also be attended by newly appointed in-charge of Jharkhand RPN Singh and his deputy Umang Singh.
As per the programme, party central and local leaders and members of the Assembly would lead different groups and converge at Birsa Chowk in the morning and from there a big march would be taken out up to the Assembly.
“We have chosen August 9 because it is historic for the country. This day the slogan of ‘Quit India’ was given during the freedom struggle. The time has come when not only us but common people, tribals, farmers are demanding ‘BJP-Quit Jharkhand’,” said Pradesh Congress Committee president Sukhdeo Bhagat on the sidelines of the preparations.
It is expected that over 25,000 leaders and workers would attend the protest march which is being focused on complete abolition of CNT-SPT amendment provisions brought by the Government, firing on land losers and number of farmer suicides having taken place across the State.
“Congress party is averse to any change in the tenancy acts. The Government has dragged its feet because of our continuing protests but still held its position over some clauses. We want complete withdrawal and not going to rest till then,” added the PCC chief.
He also lashed out at the Government for the recent incident of a father piggybacking his dead son when reportedly having denied ambulance at Gumla, continuing incidents of crime and farm distress. “The system has become insensitive and irresponsive under this Government. No ambulance, no medicine is available in hospitals. This should be a reason to introspect for the Government, said Bhagat.
