Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) has decided to observe November 8 as black day and planned a series of protest against demonetisation that was announced a year ago by the Centre. The party leaders and workers have been assigned responsibilities in this regard.
The leaders would sport black band during the day and participate in a candle march in evening 'to pay condolences' to those who have lost their lives while standing in queues after demonitisation.
"The demonitisation is going to complete one year and it ultimately proved disastrous for the countrymen. The party pays solidarity with all such persons and expresses solidarity on November 8 across the State. PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat on the instructions of party in-charge RPN Singh has fixed programmes for Ranchi, Palamu, Jamshedpur, Dumka and Dhanbad," said PCC general secretary lal Kishore Nath Sahdeo.
According to him, party workers from related districts would take part in the programmes at local levels.
"The party is going to highlight the plights of the people on November 8. The main programme would take place in Ranchi and other major towns of the State. Our party in-charge and former Union Minister RPN Singh would remain present in Ranchi whereas co-incharge Umang Singhar and Mannul Haq would be in Jamshedpur and Dumka, respectively. All other leaders and PCC office bearers would be at different locations," added the PCC leader.
Jharkhand State president Sukhdeo Bhagat has called a separate meeting on November 5 to draft final stage preparations for the State-wide protests in which district presidents of Ranchi division along with AICC representatives would be present.
