The Congress workers and leaders across the State started preparation to hold agitation on July 21 against the Central Government’s decision to harass Congress National Chief, Sonia Gandhi by its agency Enforcement Directorate (ED). The party workers and leaders from across the State will protest in front of the ED office on Thursday in the State Capital.

Senior Leader Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) and Convener of the Organization Empowerment Campaign, Alok Kumar Dubey visited Gumla district on Tuesday and held an important meeting with the party leaders and workers.

Addressing the meeting, Dubey said that at the behest of the Central Government, the Central Agencies are harassing the opposition leaders. “Earlier, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was harassed by calling him in Delhi ED office for six days and could not achieve anything and now on July 21, Congress Leader, Sonia Gandhi has been ordered to be present in the ED office which is totally unjust and wrong. Gandhi is seriously ill, she has survived COVID twice, was also admitted to the hospital, despite this, Sonia is being harassed, who has presented the wisdom of politics and left the post OF Prime Minister till date. She is the epitome of sacrifice, austerity, sacrifice and she has seen martyrdom inside the family. There will be widespread protests and demonstrations on 21 July,” he added.

“The Congress workers and Leader will gather at the State Assembly ground in Ranchi after that they will march to the ED office, while on July 22, Dharnas and demonstrations will be organized at all the district headquarters across Jharkhand and if needed, the struggle will continue even after July 22. There will be agitations against the ED on July 21 and 22 simultaneously across the Country,” said Dubey.

The Congress Leader said that in the presence of General Secretary, AICC and Jharkhand In-Charge, Avinash Pandey, on July 16, in Ranchi, in the meeting of the State Level Coordination Committee it was ensured that the party was assertive towards the constitutional institutions. “Against this will also take to the streets now, whatever the consequences may be. The meeting also discussed the preparations for organizing a 75 km padyatra program in all the districts on the 75th anniversary of independence from August 9 to 14,” he added.

Dubey said that on the 75th anniversary of Independence from August 9 to 14, party workers should start preparing to ensure the success of the 75 km long Padyatra program in all the districts. There is a need to make the young generation and the new generation aware of this through various mediums, he added.

The meeting was presided over by Gumla District Congress Committee President Roshan Baruwa.
