Cong smells a rat in BJP's talk of development

A day before the third phase of Assembly elections the Congress accused the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) of strengthening the hands of the land sharks and issued a word of caution for voters about the industrialization of Jharkhand. Congress’ campaign committee chairman Subodh Kant Sahay today spearheaded the attack against the saffron brigade.

“If rapid industrialization is going to take place anywhere in the country then that is going to be Jharkhand. So we need to exercise precaution about it,” said Sahay.

The Congress stalwart blamed the BJP of working in cahoots with industrial houses and acquiring vast tracts of land in constituencies that are going to poll in the third phase of the elections and tweaking with land acquisition policies passed by Parliament during the rule of United Progressive Alliance. The former Congress MP from Ranchi expressed apprehensions about amendments in the land acquisition bill and attempts by the NDA to make it anti-people.

“We have fought for the people of these areas right from the beginning. But after the present government at the centre is talking about amending the bill and the objective is to dilute the right of land owners and make laws for corporate houses,” maintained Sahay. The campaign committee chairman stressed upon issues like Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, poor drainage and sewerage system, no headway on food processing park, slum development, state of education in the state and alleged discrepancies in the recruitment process.
