Cong seeks urgent inquiry into Shah Brothers’ mining scam

Published on:

A delegation of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee led by State Congress president Dr. Ajoy Kumar met with the DIG (ACB) on Tuesday and demanded to lodge an FIR against the officials and persons involved in the Shah Brother’s mining scam.

The delegation handed over a memorandum to the officer stating that a demand letter of Rs 1,110 crores were issued against Shah Brothers for illegal mining of iron ores and violation of mining lease.

Later the Government corrected it and issued a fresh demand letter of Rs 1,365 crore in the year 2015. Challenging the case of the dismantling of the mining lease Sah Brothers filed a petition at Jharkhand High Court. Accepting the said petition, the High Court responded to the State Government, in which then Additional Advocate General Ajit Kumar was involved, the Congress alleged.

Later, the demand was again corrected and it was reduced to Rs 250 crore from Rs 1,365 crore.  On the basis of a false promise of Ajit Kumar, the court has passed the order to accept the amount of Rs 252 crores in installments on  October 1, stated the memorandum. Again Ajit Kumar, gave a false promise in the Court whereas the truth is that there was no such agreement between the State Government and Shah Brothers, memorandum said. Besides Ajit Kumar, the District Mining Officer, Chaibasa also has an active and direct role in this criminal conspiracy, while the involvement of top officials of the mining department cannot be denied as it is impossible for district-level officers to execute such a large scale scam independently, it further said.

The delegation requested that an urgent inquiry should be initiated by lodging an FIR under the criminal conspiracy so that the guilty persons could be punished properly.

Besides others, party spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, Alok Kumar Dubey, Shamsher Alam, Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Sanjay Pandey, Amulya Niraj Khalkho, Amitabh Ranjan, Vinanjay Bharti Balku, Bablu Shukla, Prem Kumar, Kedar Paswan, Narendra Singh, Yogendra Singh Beni, Nagendra Chaudhary, Nitish Sinha were in the delegation.
