Dr P Neyyar, Chairman Health Department Congress on Tuesday demanded immediate rollback of hike in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders as it accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of being insensitive towards the problems of the common people.

“We urge the government to immediately roll back the petrol-diesel prices and excise duty hike post March 5, 2020 and pass on this benefit to the people of India in these difficult times,” Dr Neyyar said in a statement.

He said in the last two months alone, LPG gas prices have gone up by Rs 175 per cylinder and that is hitting the common people who are already reeling under economic recession.

He said that “unjust” increase in prices as also the Central excise duty on petrol and diesel has inflicted insurmountable pain and suffering on the people of India. He also demanded that the benefit of reduced international crude oil prices be passed on to people and the rates of petrol, diesel and LPG gas reduced accordingly.
