Cong ruling State by proxy: Marandi

Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM-P) chief Babulal Marandi expressed reservations on the recent meeting of State MPs with Governor and Union Minister Jairam Ramesh and termed it an exercise aimed at something other than what it was called for.

Reacting to the meeting, Marandi said "the meeting is an attempt to show existence of governance in the State, which is a sort of proxy (Congress) rule."

Blaming Congress, Marandi added, on the one hand Ramesh is saying officials are dangerous and on the other, they are doing nothing to curb the menace of corruption among officials.

Marandi criticised the Central government for ruling the State through the President's Rule. Talking to media persons, Marandi said "we strongly oppose the move to run the government from Delhi."

Taking a dig at Congress MlAs wish to form a government in the State, Marandi said nobody enjoys a majority in the Vidhan Sabha, so election is the only option left.

"Any talk about forming a government is a signal that bargaining and political horse-trading is on," said Marandi.

Marandi reiterated his party's stand on dissolution of the Assembly and warned that he would launch massive protests across the State from May if the Assembly is not dissolved and recommendation for elections is not made by the Central government.

"We are organising a conference in May in Hazaribagh where we will decide the form of movement against the prevailing system," added Marandi.

The conference is likely to be held on either May 4 or 5. Marandi said all parties were unworthy for pre-poll alliance and accused them to be neck-deep in corruption. "We will contest on all Assembly seats. We have already started preparing for the elections and so far we have organised programmes in 72 Assembly constituencies of the State," added Marandi.

He blamed all political parties for the backwardness of the State and tried to distance himself from JVM's alliance partners on previous occasions. "Instead of concentrating on development works, the Congress, BJP and all parties have only looted the State," said Marandi.
