Cong resumes membership drive from Ramgarh

After 10 months of break membership drive of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) resumed the programme once again on Tuesday in Ramgarh in presence of JPCC Chief, Rameshwar Oraon, Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh, MLA Ramgarh, Mamta Devi, the Membership drive In charge, Alok Kumar Dubey and JPCC Spokesperson Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo.

Launching the membership drive, Oraon said that Ramgarh was chosen by Mahatma Gandhi and in the same way Congress is resuming its membership drive from the place. “At present, we have come for membership drive, our party believes in all castes, all religions, communities without any discrimination and only then for 140 years our party has been serving the people. We are thankful to you for believing in the alliance in the last assembly election, but the way the Prime Minister announced lockdown on March 25, this was not done anywhere in the entire world,” he added.

“The Congress party’s intention is clear. We kept our people safe during the Corona period, working to bring people stranded in other states by trains, flights, buses because we were feeling pain from people. From neighboring states, we brought our people back home, provided jobs to 9 lakh people through MGNREGA. We did not have medicines to fight the Corona epidemic, doctors were not there but we changed the system. The State Government has made complete arrangements for health checkups in every district. We will go among the people with the ideology of the Congress, will increase the base of the party and strengthen it,” said Oraon.

Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Minister Badal said that the journey of Congress started from the summit convened in Ramgarh in 1940 and since then till 2020, we have touched several peaks. “At present the party is going through a difficult time, the people of Ramgarh will once again take historic decisions, when we are going to celebrate 80th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s Ramgarh Meeting,” he added.

“We will request the party leadership that a big and historic meeting of Congress should take place in the land of Ramgarh on the 80 th anniversary. Congress was still there and it will be in future also. The party has done several important works by giving ration cards to 15 lakh people, agriculture loan waiver to 9 lakh farmers,” said Badal.

Membership drive in charge, Alok Dubey said that the party will add 15 lakh new members through the drive and strengthen its organisation at booth level.
