Congress President, Sonia Gandhi has been authorized by the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Election Committee (JPCEC) for the selection of a Congress candidate for the Bermo Assembly bye-election. The State Election Committee headed by Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) president, Rameshwar Oraon held a meeting at Congress Bhavan on Wednesday. It was decided unanimously at the meeting that Sonia Gandhi is authorised to announce the Congress candidate for the Bermo bye-election. Earlier, the panel list of four candidates sent by the Bokaro District Congress Committee was discussed during the meeting and it was decided to send all the names to the High Command, on which Gandhi will take the final decision. Later, Oraon said that the Congress is a national organization and according to our traditions the party adopt the process of selection of the candidate at the block, district and the State level at the same time consent of High Command is mandatory.
