Talking to media after the meeting JPCC Chief, Rameshwar Oraon said that there are several instances in the past when results came against strength of numbers in the Rajya Sabha elections and it has been witnessed in Jharkhand also in the past that results came against numbers so the party is confident that its candidate will win the seat.
“The party fielded its candidates after holding talks with independent candidates and likeminded parties. Talks are going on with them and they have assured that they will vote for Anwar on the voting day,” said Oraon. He also added that BJP is trying to get the votes on their money power, he added. All 17 MLA of Congress were present during the meeting including three Ministers in the State Government. Rural Development Minister, Alamgir Alam, Agriculture Minister, Badal Patralekh and Health Minister, Banna Gupta were also present in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion Alam said, “We believe that if we get 26 votes and if we get votes of the second preference, then we can definitely win the election.”
Alam said that this is the first time since 2015, when the State Government has provided employment to 6.42 lakh people in the State through MGNREGA. After the implementation of the MGNREGA scheme, providing employment to 6.42 lakh labourers in Jharkhand is a major achievement of the Government.
“The State Government aims to provide employment to 10 lakh people through MGNREGA. The rainy season is about to come, during this time the Government has prepared a detailed action plan to provide employment to the people through various schemes. Apart from this the activities of the construction sector will also be encouraged so that people could get employment in the sector,” said Alam.
