The Congress has lashed out at the BJP-led Government and ripped apart the claims made about development in the State. Speaking on the occasion of completion of the six-month in the office on Tuesday, Congress State president Sukhdeo Bhagat termed it a Government of hollow claims and false promises.
“We do not want to do politics on the issue of development and hope for a prosperous Jharkhand. Thus, it is also the responsibility of the Congress that we expose the false promises made by the Government and the areas where it has failed miserably,” said Bhagat addressing a press conference.
Highlighting the issues that have been haunting the State on the fronts of employment, law and order, investment, corruption previously, Bhagat said that most of the promises made by the Government had so far remained on paper only.
“They have made false promises to the people of the State before the polls and after that and have been pointed out not only by the Congress but also by the High Court and its own Minister CP Singh.
The High Court on several occasions has made adverse comments on the functioning of the Government. CP Singh has also pointed out the level of corruption exists in the State,” he said.
The party while lashing out the Government also charged it for not having agriculture policy, recruitment against crucial posts, against illegal mining, running transfer-posting industry, no headway in illegal land transfer cases of tribals and no concrete step on smart cities and domicile policy.
“This is the first Government that has got absolute majority in the history of Jharkhand but during its six months’ stay in the office it seems their intentions are not right. This has reduced just to a Government which ma kes promises. In fact, it not an independent Government but is being run through remote from Delhi,” said Bhagat.
Highlighting as many as 82 issues where the party claimed that the Government has failed to deliver, Bhagat struck down agreements and MoU signed for investment in power, steel and other sectors. “The agreements are being done on the intimidations coming from Delhi. Only such investors are coming to the State those are blue eyed boys of the Central Government.
The Cabinet expansion is pending but the Chief Minister does not have courage to do it on his own,” said the PCC chief and questioned the fate of numerous such agreements done in the past.
Talking about the party’s strategy, Bhagat said it would work hard to capitalise on the prevailing situation. “We have started ‘Gaon-Gaon-Paon-Paon’ programme and getting incredible response from the people. The party is taking all the issues concerning the State to grass root level “
Congress to take call on RS poll today
Jharkhand Congress chief Sukhdeo Bhagat said that the party would make its stand clear officially on Wednesday on Rajya Sabha election. When asked about where five of its MlAs would vote on July 2, the poll day for the lone RS seat, Bhagat replied, “We are yet to decide finally and will let you know tomorrow.”
Though, indications from within the party are that its legislators would be issued a whip to vote for JMM candidate Haji Hussain Ansari. Ansari has been projected as united Opposition candidate and has already garnered support from the JVM.
