Cong leader sees lawlessness in State

AICC spokesperson and president of the Congress women’s wing Sobha Oza has rapped the BJP-led Government for handling anti-social elements with kid gloves and allowing them to run amok in the name of cow traders, child-lifters and so on. Referring to series on bloodsheds having taken place recently in different parts of Jharkhand, the leader said in a press conference on Monday that all such forces were directly or indirectly part of the Governments run by the BJP in different States.

“Over 15 killings in 4-5 days and that also in the home district of the Chief Minister. This is horrible. It seems that anti-social forces are in power and have gone out of control now. In fact, the situation is more or less similar everywhere since for the BJP cow vigilantism, anti-Romeo squad and other non-issues have become the main issues,” she said in the presence of ClP leader Alamgir Alam and PCC general secretaries namely Alok Dubey, lal Kishore Nath Sahadeo and others.

The media briefing from the party was a part of its nationwide campaign being undertaken to belittle the three years regime of the BJP-led Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Oza went on criticising the Center for its reported betrayals.

“The BJP came into power with immense promises made to the country but when we sit back and ponder over the three years of power it is very hard to ascertain whether the country has gained anything. It is the time to seek answers when over 14,000 farmers have committed suicide, jobs are being cut, fuel prices are high despite crude oil rates at half than it was during the UPA and security of women at a new low. If you recall what they had said about these issues when not in power and what have they done after three years the answer is very evident,” said the AICC member.

She also stressed on farmers’ distress and their recent agitations demanding loan waiver. Oza compared to the decision of the UPA-II of writing off the farm loan in the tune of Rs 70,000 crore.

“Only middlemen and those who had funded the BJP during the elections are gaining. Adanis have earned nearly Rs 15000 crore out of pulse imports during the distress when prices were soaring in the country. Even crop insurance companies have gained much though premium collection. Have you seen the Prime Minister visiting any farmer’s house during his tenureIJ Why because they have not funded his elections,” said the leader, blaming the Modi Government for waiving debt of Rs 1.54 lakh crore belonging to corporate houses.

The party, on the occasion, also released a booklet ‘Annadata-Mrityu Ka Abhishap’ based on agrarian crisis while hitting out the ‘anti-farmer’ Government for discarding MGNREGA and also failing to protect the borders.
