The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee has knocked the police door objecting to a poster allegedly gone on display during Durga Puja. State Congress general secretary Alok Kumar Dubey has lodged an FIR at Doranda police station charging ‘Akhand Bharat’ organisation for showing party’s national vice-president Rahul Gandhi as demon king Mahisasura.
“I have reported the matter to the police and lodged an FIR on Thursday. The content in the poster is extremely objectionable, bad in taste and inflammatory in nature. The JPCC sniffs larger politics being played behind the ugly incident,” said Dubey after filing the complaint.
The hoarding bearing name of ‘Akhand Bharat’ onto it depicted the Gandhi scion along with another Congressman Sanjay Nirupam and Aam Aadmi Party convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as the demon king being killed by Goddess Durga on the occasion of Vijyadashmi. The huge billboard does not carry any person’s name or contact.
“We got some information about the person who has put the banners around. He has been identified as some Brajesh Singh who has claimed the responsibility as well. He has not been named in the FIR but we have anyway requested the police official to investigate the matter thoroughly and identify the person with malicious design and slap related sections against him,” added the Congress leader.
It is believed that the leaders shown as demons in the poster have been targeted for their controversial outburst recently following the surgical strike carried out across the loC by the Indian Army.
Rahul Gandhi has been in the eye of the controversy since his ‘khoon ki dalali’ jibe against the BJP ruled Government in Delhi while Kejriwal was heard seeking evidence of the military action. Maharashtra Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam had expressed disbelief over the cross border strike that has reportedly demolished some of the launching pads of militants existing on other side of the control line in Jammu & Kashmir.
‘Akhand Bharat’ is considered rightwing but does not have any sizable presence in the State. Earlier, its name had surfaced during the Tara Shahdeo matter when the organisation had approached the High Court seeking a CBI probe alleging ‘love jihad’ behind the case. Interestingly, rightwing nationalist group could not write correct spellings in the message written in vernacular Hindi. The poster hailing ‘Bharat Maha’ explains ‘kalyugi mahisasur ka baadh karti hue mata’ for the Goddess with at least three grammatical mistakes!
