The Congress in Palamu seems to be weak as two of its star leaders Chandrashekhar Dubey alias Dadai Dubey and Radha Krishna Kishore are no longer with it as both have left the party. Dubey left it before the lok Sabha elections while Kishore who had left Congress about a month ago, joined BJP on Tuesday.
The political vacuum in Vishrampur and Chhatarpur Assembly constituencies which Dubey and Kishore represented in their hey days will not be easy for the Congress leadership to fill, despite the fact that the party has a good number of Brahmin and Dalit leaders but none of the stature of Dubey and Kishore.
"Kishore's exit from Congress is a well calculated move as he is the one who keeps his political profit quite ahead of him and seldom allows his emotions to darken his political fate", said a party man here. On the other hand Dubey launched an assault on Chief Minister Hemant Soren on the issue of favouritism and corruption he got nothing in return rather a sacking from Soren's cabinet forcing him to join Mamata Banerjee's TMC.
Sources say that Dubey's quitting politics is to prepare road for his son Ajay Dubey who is said to in touch of the BJP to contest from his father's constituency and their home turf. "The battle is easy as Ajay Dubey has never been seen in public functions. Ajay may consolidate the political heritage of his father but the task is no cakewalk," said a Congress man.
The district president of the Congress in Palamu Chandrshekhar Shukla on the other hand depends upon public as he said, "The Congress will make a comeback soon as people will begin to taste the fruits of achhey din much faster." Shukla conceded that two great leaders are off the Congress but termed it the way politics runs. Palamau has five Assembly seats and another big name KN Tripathy, now a Minister, is sweating hard to keep the flocks together.
