A delegation, led by former secretary of State Congress, Aditya Vikram Jaiswal, met Minister of Urban Development, Housing & Transport Department, CP Singh and handed over a memorandum on the issue of drinking water and encroachment of ponds in the State Capital here on Thursday.
During the meeting, Jaiswal gave critical review on water crisis to the Minister and said encroachment has been done in the Gosain pond, where the sewerage water is being released. “The work of beautification should be done to prevent it from getting filthier. Toxic water from Transformer Repair Factory has been released in the Karnatha pond of Chutia, because of which the pond is in a pathetic condition and it should be stopped immediately,” said Jaiswal.
He further added that Banas pond, Hatia pond and Nayak pond are covered with heaps of trash and prompt action should be taken in the direction of cleaning these ponds. “In Chutia more than 500 people are dependent on a single hand pump in ward number 46.
Drinking water should be made easily available to the residents.”
In Karnatha toli near Shri Ram Temple, water supply is not available due to unavailability of submersible water pump machine.
