State Congress has expressed concerns about poor implementation of the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme in Kolhan division including East Singhbhum district.State secretary SRA Rizvi Chabban said that districts of East Singhbhum has 1,750 villages, while West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan under Kolhan division have 1,672 and 1,183 villages respectively. The Centre-sponsored rural electrification scheme is in poor condition as 93 per cent of ten and 16 KVA transformers were either burnt or are not functioning.
Besides, 1,454 villages in East Singhbhum, 1,304 villages in West Singhbhum and 971 villages in Seraikela-Kharswan are working without any electricity due to tardiness of the State administration in replacing the faulty transformers.“It is a matter of great concern that both Central and State Governments are not taking steps to seriously implement the scheme. About 177 villages of East Singhbhum, 134 in West Singhbhum and 101 in Seraikela-Kharswan have not received benefits of the scheme. It is high time when steps should be taken to bring pace in the implementation of the scheme,” noted Chabban.
