The newly appointed president of Jharkhand Congress Rajesh Thakur is expanding his team in the next few weeks and he has been instructed by the central leadership to pick experienced and dedicated workers and leaders for the key organisational responsibilities.

The spokespersons of the previous regime, namely Alok Dubey, Rajesh Gupta and Kishore Nath Shahdeo have been replaced.

Rajiv Ranjan Prasad who has been made one of the spokespersons of the party is expected to lead the media communication cell of the party means he will be the chief spokesperson.

“New team and organisational overhaul are routine things. Important thing is that the central leadership has categorically asked the state president to ensure the return of the shine of the party. As part of the Government, we have to be proactive and an asset for the cause of public good,” a senior party leader said.

A large section of the party including MLAs were unhappy with the previous state president after names of the Congress MLAs were dragged in a horse- trading case.  They were miffed over prolonged silence of state leadership which did not defend them. Later on, MLA Dipika Pandey Singh also expressed her resentment and said that none can be allowed to cast aspersion and unverified allegations on the Congress MLAs.

The new president has been asked to take a stand on any issue vis-à-vis the policy and manifesto of the party. The Congress will seek a review in language policy of the government where some of the languages were dropped citing as the language of Bihar.

There is clamour in the party to make the 20th point committee functional from state to block level which the new president has already started the ground work.

There is a demand for the larger say of the party

and the MLA in the decision-making process at the Government level.
